The Melancholy of the Moderne

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2008

Abstract

On the basis of an analysis of Benjamin´s concept of the moderne, the book attempts to present an unusual view of the modernist literature, in particular the prose fiction of R.Weiner and F.Kafka. The main themes dealt with in this book are allegory and melancholy, the messianic theory of language, the decline of storytelling as a symptom of the crisis of modernity.
