Poetry in Rabbinic Judaism. Remarks to the poetics of liturgical compositions

Abstract

Majority of poetic compositions which originate in medieval Jewish civilization has religious contain and was created for the sake of synagogal liturgy. In its framework we witness tension between the poetic compositions - piyyut and the fixed prayer.

The piyyut has often subversive function.
