Distant view with a crane and crows - Du Fu's symbolic representation of the landscape

Abstract

Poems by the Tang poet Du Fu (712-770) with motifs of birds and desolate landscape. The poems are read against the eralier tradition of Chinese nature poetry with the aim to se the way landscape is constructed and symbolic meanings are embedded in it.
