Abstract
Russian and Czech informative texts were analyzed from the aspect of their dynamics. Statistical data confirm both a higher salience of verbs and (non-idiosyncratics) verbal metaphor in Czech as compared to Russian.
The difference in dynamics reflects in stylistic preferences: while Czech tends to prefer the agentive form, whereby the agent (real or personified) is expressed in the subjectival nominative, Russian tends to prefer other agentive syntactic positions or may leave the agent unexpressed. These differences are culturally bound and relevant in translation between Czech and Russian.
