Abstract
The book represents a revised, completed and with detailed explication notes provided translation, a part of which was done about fourty years ago for liturgical purposes by the Czech Old Testament scholar Václav Bogner whom the death prevented from completing his work. It is a teamwork of a biblical scholars? group respecting both the contemporary state of the Czech language and that of the knowledge in biblical sciences.
At the same time it is a first volume of the prepared complete Czech Catholic Translation of the Bible that should be a representative work of the contemporary Czech catholic biblical scholarship.
