Abstract
The article looks at a spiritual method of reading the Scripture called lectio divina, touching upon different approaches to the Bible at the time of the Patristics and in the Post-patristic and Mediaeval era. The last section introduces some contemporary approaches starting from the justified ?renaissance? of the return to the Scripture to the centre of personal and community spirituality.
