Abstract
The article presented the phenomenon of ?starchestvo? seen through the eyes of the novelist Dostoyevsky, the theologian Florensky and the historian Lossky; and besides the description of their reflections, the theological characteristics of the ontological sainthood of the ?elders?, which were sensitively perceived by the educated authors, drawing primarily on their own experience with spiritual guidance.
