Abstract

In the introductory contribution author offers a short outline of history of EBAF since foundation of the convent of St. Stephen and arrival of the first director and an ideological architect of the School M.-J.

Lagrange. Focal point of the study comprises narration about activities and researches of the first three generations of professors at this remarkable school.

The author sketches scientific work of the School within the context of transformations of the political framework into which the School is implanted in this explosive part of the world, as well as within the context of struggle for promotion of modern critical and scientific exegesis in Catholic Church, asserted definitively on Vatican II the lion's share of this assertion is owed to the professors of the School.
