The study focuses on the Crucifixion group from the Church of Our Lady in front of Teyn, in particular on its stylistic analysis and dating. The author argues against recent attempts at its new stylistic understanding and its dating to the 40th of the 15th century (M.
Bartlová, J. Fajt).
The paper comes out of detailed formal analysis of the work of art itself, of his excellent quality and his remarkable measure of stylistic purity and finds many aspects that correspond to capabilities of a great artistic personality before the year 1420. The author refers to certain proximity of this Crucifixion group to a Prague production of the last quarter of the 14th century and around the year 1400.
Second part of the study focuses further to the above mentioned questions on methodological problems connected with superficially applied formal analysis and with the attempt to combine the historical dates with the art-historical dates at any rate.
