The Nobel Prize for T. G. Masaryk: Epilogue to the "Zagreb Trial?

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2006

Abstract

The study, based on until now unrevealed sources from the archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Haus-, Hof- and Staatsarchiv in Vienna), describes attempts of a part of the Czech intellectual elite at the nomination of professor T.G. Masaryk for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1913.

These attempts were in the end baffled by the initiative of the Hungarian diplomacy, provoked by the intervention of crown prince Franz Ferdinand d'Este.
