From Suffering the Heat to Enjoying the Cool - Remarks on Wang Wei as a Buddhist Poet

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2006

Abstract

Wang Wei's (701-761) art of poetry is usually studied without much attention to his writings directly dealing with Buddhist religion. This article, using several Wang Wei's poems on the established theme of 'suffering the heat' and 'enjoying the cool', aims at introducing him as a poet seriously preoccupied with religous themes and didacticism.
