Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2006

Abstract

The book deals with philosophical logic of a Baroque scholar John Caramuel of Lobkowitz (1606?1682). Caramuel, a theologian, mathematician and logician, anticipated in his formal logic some characteristic features of modern mathematical logic which would have been developed only in the mid 19th century.

Caramuel's work also exhibits some interesting applications of logical approach within a wide array of philosophical and theological topics.
