Double-baloon endoscopy of the small bowel. First experience in Czech Republic

Abstract

Double-balloon enteroscopy is a new enteroscopy method that allows examination and treatment of the jejunum in almost all cases and of the ileum in most patients. The complication rate with the procedure is very low.

For the diagnosis and treatment of suspected small-bowel bleeding, double-balloon enteroscopy is the first choice. The authors present their first experience (initial ten DBE) with the method in the Czech Republic.
