Anti-neoplastic chemotherapy experienced a great development in recent years. It was originally only a supplementary therapy, but gradually achieved greater significance as a standard therapeutic method.
Statistics of the last 20 years indicates that chemotherapy reached currently a certain maximum and new cytostatics are not significantly influencing survival of patients with the most frequent tumours. Current oncological chemotherapy is based mostly on empiric experiences and generalisation of results of extensive clinical studies without the respect of individuality of the patient and biological difference of each tumour.
