Abstract

Sclerosis multiplex (SM) is chronic inflammatory disease of central nervous system with unknown etiology, thus appropriate causal therapy is not available. A number of pathogenic mechanisms of procedure of demyelinisation and damage and fall-out of nervous fibres explored in detail enable early diagnosis of pathogenic process and possibility of its therapeutic influence.

It is auto-immune disorder, where the target antigens are antigens of myelin sheath in certain specifically and non-specifically conditioned environment. Raise of SM is conditioned by external (moderate zone, north hemisphere, incidence of viruses ? retroviruses, ability to change immune reactions) and internal factors (genetic background).
