Surgery of thoracic aorta. Surgical treatments of thoracic aorta present 2?3% of all heart surgeries.
They usually are difficult and often urgent surgeries which bear the highest surgical risk. They are mainly treatments for thoracic aortic aneurysm, annular aortic ectasia and for both acute and chronic aortic dissections, scarcely then surgeries of traumatic aortic lesion alternatively pseudoanerysm.
Some of these surgical treatments of descending aorta are already replaced with less invasive procedures ? with implantations of stent grafts.
