Abstract

Mollaret's meningitis is defined as reccurent benign aseptic meningittis. The disease may present a whole range of neurological symptoms, yet these are transient and not constant.

Attacs of disease alernate with asymptomatic periods of several days and even years. In the etiology of this type CNS infection we find in a certain proportion of cases Herpes simplex virus (HSV), Primarily HSV type 2.

Polymerase chainreactions often demnstrate in CSF the presence of HSV type 2 often HSV type1 An importent role is played by an antiviral therapywith acyclovir, sometimes also with valacyclovir.
