Abstract

Platelets are stimulated by endothelium injury, adhere to subendothelial matrix and absorb plasma proteins, including von Willebrand factor and fibrinogen. The platelets adhere to von Willebrand factor through receptor platelet glycoproteins (GP) Ib/IX/V and to fibrinogen through GP IIb/III.

The shape of platelets is changed after contact with collagen.
