Cardiovascular diseases are in general a consequence of the combination of several risk factors. In view of the nature of this group of diseases, Czech professional societies came to and agreement five years ago on the collaboration in making recommendations for the prevention of the ischenmic heart disease in clinical practise.
The recommendations were published in the year 2000. Since then a number of new findings have been published that inspired the European Cardiological Society in cooperation with other European societies to the formation of European recommendations for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases in clinical practise. These new recomendations differ from the previus ones in several important aspects.
