Metamphetamine (pervitin) is one of the most abused addictive drugs in the Czech Republic. Institutional therapy is provided e.g. in the addicts rehabilitation centre in Nechanice.
Recently, a higher number of patients have been recorded who have developed their addiction later in their life ? in middle age. Based on one case report, we present some general phenomena related to this age group ? sufficient insight and motivation for treatment, problems in the relation to the therapist, lower ability to accept the opinion of fellow patients, and other significant topics in the psychotherapy differences in the follow-up and sexual aspects of addiction.
