Abstract
The paper summarizes the effects of asbestos, its effect on the health condition of exposed persons and the occupational diseases related to this exposition included in the List of Occupational Diseases in the Czech Republic. Two asymptomatic professional diseases are described ? hyalinosis of pleura and lung cancer detected upon preventive examination.
