Thrombocytopenie induced by heparin (HIT) - editorial

Abstract

HIT is a serious complication of heparin treatment, mainly in cardiologic patients with activated platelet functions. This work reports less frequent HIT after administration of low molecular weight heparin.

It seems that advances in anticoagulation treatment, direct and indirect thrombin inhibitors effectively prevent HIT as complication of antithrombotic treatment.
