Abstract

The monograph summarizes the problems of the new field of interventional radiology that is a logical result of developments in contemporary medicine, mainly technological developments. The objective of the field is to make use of recent clinical knowledge, primarily of surgery, and the considerable development of imaging methods for the treatment of some diseases and conditions with minimum intervention into the outer integrity of the human body.

This is possible by using the latest imaging devices based upon X-ray radiation, ultrasound or magnetic resonance to lead the instruments through the natural cavities of the human bodies and its organs.
