Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that may be associated with acute or chronic complications. The development of etiopathogenetic information and methods in diagnostics and treatment of diabetes have made it possible to prolong the life of diabetics and to improve their quality of life.

At present, the main cause of higher morbidity and mortality of diabetics are the consequences of the disease due to long-term vascular damage. The first part of the book, written by an experienced female physician, makes the reader acquainted with acute metabolic complications.

The second part concentrates on acute hypoglycemia in the treatment of diabetes.
