An unbelievable and deformed guideline from the State Institute for Drug Control (SÚKL) is the reason why I feel forced to make the medical public acquainted with my critique of the policy of this institute. On 3.12.2003 the SÚKL published a recommendation to all heads of health departments, to chosen state management organs and to all physicians prescribing HRT, which was called ?Urgent information to all physicians on HRT?.
In the information it was said: Due to all European reevaluation of the ratio of benefits and risks of the HRT the SÚKL recommends in registered indications not to consider the conventional estrogen and combined estrogen-progestin HRT for prevention or therapy of osteoporosis to be the treatment of first choice?.
