Abstract

Allergic rhinoconjunctivitis can substantially decrease the quality of life. There are several valid instruments (standardized questionnaires) in place for measuring the quality of life in patients with allergic rhinoconjunctivitis.

There were no apparent differences in the mean quality of life scores between the groups with seasonal rhinoconjunctivitis and perennial allergic rhinitis, the group with a combination of both diseases showed worse results. The subjects chose the activities in which they were most limited by their nasal/eye symptoms.

In the majority of symptoms and limitations, no statistically significant differences in the quality of life between men and women were noted and no impact of occupation and duration of symptoms was proven. A certain degree of deterioration associated with age was noted.

The decrease of the quality of life during the season as compared to the post- season period was statistically highly significant.
