Hypolipidemic Treatment of Patients´ at the Beginning of ATLET

Abstract

Cardiovascular diseases (CD) are the main cause of death in majority of the European countries. Czech Republic is among the states with the highest cardiovascular mortality.

In 2004 was its portion of the whole mortality 51,4 % (male 46 %, female 57 %). These diseases also greatly contribute to morbidity, invalidity, and growing expenses on health care.

Therefore in 2004 the Czech Association for General Medicine (ČLS JEP) in cooperation with appropriate experts worked out recommended procedures for physicians ?Prevention of cardiovascular diseases? and ?Dyslipidemia?, which are in agreement with the European recommendations.
