Abstract

Monography deals with all aspects of smoking and to oral cavity including epidemiology, detailed biochemistry a immunology of smoking. All clinically significant associations between tobacco abuse and oral health, predominantly oral hygiene, diseases of teeth and periodontal tissue, periimplant changes, also diseases of salivary glands and oral mucous membrane.

As the most important reveal to be potentially malignant changes of the mucous membrane including oro-pharyngeal squamous cell carcinomas. The recent role of the dentist in the diagnosis a treatment of thouse diseases, and in anti-smoking activities and doctor´s assisted cessation therapy are reviewed.
