The pharmacokinetics and tissue distribution of platinum were investigated in rats after oral administration of a new platinum derivative (LA-12). Plasma platinum pharmacokinetics were nonlinear in the range 38,6 - 540 mg LA-12/kg.
The highest tissue platinum concentrations were found in the liver and kidneys. Platinum was undetectable in the brain while in other tissues (muscle, skin, heart, lungs), the concentrations were lower (after a single dose) or similar (after multiple doses) when compared to maximum plasma concentrations.
