Abstract
A textbook of phonetics and phonology designed for BA and MA students of Spanish philology. A general introduction is followed by a thorough structural description of Spanish vowels, consonants and suprasegmental features.
The theoretical part outlines the most important contemporary phonological conceptions of the vowel and consonant systems in Spanish. Due attention is paid to the relationships between sound and spelling.
The concluding chapter offers a brief outline of the modern spelling rules.
