Abstract
The essay is devoted to an important personality of German historiography in Bohemia, founder of historical seminary at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Charles University and of modern methods of university teaching. From rich Höfler´s activities it takes notice of his teacher´s engagement at the faculty in Prague, where he was active since 1851 till to his retirement in 1882.
It follows the structure of Höfler´s lectures and seminaries and in the enclosure it brings out the numbers of students of the Faculty of Philosophy in the time of Höfler´s activity.
