Abstract

The paper focuses on Pausanias' speech in PLato's Symposium, its interpretation by Plotinus in the Ennead III.5 (50) and the elaboration of this interpretation by Ficino in his Commentary on Plato's Symposium which may have been one of the inspirations of Boticelli's paintings 'Primavera' and 'Birth of Venus'.
