Abstract
Social enterprises are entities in the social economy and are identical with the third sector. In the European Union they have great potential to contribute to strategies for successfully coping with the current crisis.
In Western Europe they operate in various fields, a key one being the field of social services. Social enterprises also exist in the Czech Republic, but there is no formal definition of the concept and there is little awareness of them.
