Health Benefits of Physical Activity

Abstract

Physical activity is one of the major components of chronic disease prevention. Very strong scientific evidence based on a wide range of well-conducted studies shows that physically active people have higher levels of health-related fitness, a lower risk profile for developing a number of disabling medical conditions, and lower rates of various chronic diseases than do people who are inactive.

We bring information about main health benefits of physical activity, about our suggestion of terminology in Czech language and about importance of physical education for fitness motivation. We came out of Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans issued in 2008 by The Department of Health and Human Services in the USA because we believe that this material is very inspiring for our practice needing more information and education in this area.
