Abstract

Henoch-Schönlein purpura (HSP) is the most common vasculitis of childhood with skin, joint, gastrointestinal and renal symptoms. Currently there are no effective measures to prevent the onset of HSP nephritis, and similarly no commonly accepted therapeutic guidelines exist.

Early recognition of renal involvement together with long term follow-up are essential for patient prognosis.
