The „non-language-boudness“ of symbol in Paul Ricoeur

Abstract

This study focuses on Ricoeur´s koncept of symbol and the role which symbol plays in his general conceptualised proces of understanding. The question is whether all understanding is carried by speech or whether unsaid or pre-speech moments belong to it.

This article pays attention to those aspects of symbol which stand ether outsider of language or on its boundaries.
