Abstract
A paper dealing with Josef Čapek´s participation in two public inquiries. The first one, inspired by the pedagogue František Pražák (1885-1947), was answered by Czech writers of various generations.
The second one, organised by the Germanist Hugo Siebenschein (1889-1971) and the writer Pavel Sula (1882-1975), adressed many participants, and their responses were published in a book.
