Abstract
The study focuses on the detailed analysis of the American romantic movie by Jane Campion 'The Portrait of a Lady' - the adaptation of the novel by Henry James. It is especially interested in the character of female protagonist, her actress´ interpretation by Nicol Kidman and the stylization of the figure in a picture composition.
