Rivalry of Right And Left Nose

Publication at Faculty of Humanities |

Abstract

Most of our sensory organs are paired. We have only two eyes and two ears, but also the right and left side of the nose and in which two olfactory organs.

And so it is not always a perfect match in a pair, so even if our sense organs can occur rivalries. Let's explain this interesting phenomenon on the example of vision.

If it is shown to each eye the other stimulus, we do not perceive the combination of those images, as we might expect, but rather a substitution. This interesting phenomenon is referred to as binocular rivalry.

Similarly, we find a rivalry for hearing, and finally, olfactory perception, as demonstrated in their study, Wen Zhou Chen and Denise.
