Single crystal silver amalgam electrodes for voltammetric and amperometric detection

Publication at Faculty of Science |
2010

Abstract

The single crystal silver amalgam electrode was used for voltammetric determinations of 4-nitrophenol using differential pulse voltammetry in batch analysis. The developed method is applicable in the linear concentration range 1–100 μmol l-1 with LOD 2 μmol l-1 and RSD lower than 3 %.

The single crystal was also utilized for the construction of micro-cylindrical detection flow cell. It was used for amperometric detection of nitrophenols in the mixture (2- nitrophenol, 4-nitrophenol, 2,4-dinitrophenol, 2-methoxy-5-nitrophenol) after their separation by HPLC at an RP-18 column.

These measurements proved suitability of crystalline silver amalgam for construction of voltammetric and amperometric detection cells.
