The article focuses on the international relations around the year 1683 in the South-Eastern Europe with the main orientation on the Second Siege of Vienna in the year 1683. The Campaign to Vienna in 1683 was the last attack of the Ottomans in direction of central Europe.
The article tries to analyze not only the military-political point of view, but also the reasons which led to the decision and the resulting defeat of the Ottomans. That defeat was the begin of the retreat of the Ottoman Empire from Europe.
